Foshan lanterns and paper-cuts are traditional folk arts and crafts with local and national characteristics in Foshan. Foshan lanterns are colorful. There are various colored lanterns made of silk, bamboo strips and iron wire, competing for beauty; there are autumn lanterns made of wicks, tongcao, sesame, melon seeds, planed wood, etc., which are solemn and simple; there are various anthropomorphic objects made of bamboo strips and various nylon cloths, which are lifelike; some are two meters square, and the small ones are only the size of a ping-pong ball, which are really colorful and full of wonders. The lantern-colored paper-cutting works of Foshan Folk Art Research Society are invited to be exhibited abroad every year and are welcomed by people from all walks of life abroad. The exhibited works of art have been included in the Guinness World Records twice. Foshan paper-cuts include monochrome paper-cuts, color paper-cuts, paper writing, paper lining, copper writing, copper lining and copper chisel, etc., with a wide variety of varieties. It has the characteristics of the clear, beautiful, bright and elegant paper-cuts in southern my country, and absorbs the advantages of the vigorous and thick paper-cuts in the north.
