Changyi earthenware has a long history and great influence, and it was most prosperous during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. In the inheritance of successive generations, a complex and meticulous process has been formed. The process requirements of Changyi earthenware are very complex, and the procedures are also relatively meticulous, focusing on the mastery of the fire. From preparing soil, stepping on mud, making pottery, drying, loading kilns to firing, every process must be cautious. Pottery making mostly uses local yellow clay and yellow clay on both sides of the Wei River, and takes the "standing soil" without sand about two meters below the cultivated layer; stepping on mud is to add water and step on the mud with feet; making pottery is to make clay molds with earthenware molds; after the mud platform is dried, it starts to load the kiln for firing. The firing sequence is small fire, inking, de-inking, medium fire, lion fire, medium fire, high fire, and sealing fire. From ignition to sealing fire, generally small kilns are 8 hours, large kilns are 24 hours, slightly shorter in spring and autumn, and slightly longer in winter; finally, the earthenware is out of the kiln and the production is completed. Changyi earthenware is widely used and can be roughly divided into a series of architectural decoration components, a series of daily use, a series of sacrificial offerings, a series of appreciation, and a variety of lifelike and realistic figures, animals and scenery.
