Huaihe gongs and drums are a kind of gong and drum music popular in Yingshang along the Huai River. It has a long history and can be traced back to ancient times. During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, Guan Zhong used drums in wars. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, gongs and drums were very common in the Huaihe River Basin. It is an excellent folk art in Anhui Province and is widely spread in the Huaihe River Basin. It is one of the typical Huaihe culture. The performance method of Huaihe gongs and drums is that the drums are the conductor, the gongs are the main instrument, and the cymbals and cymbals are divided into two parts and played alternately. There are many types of melody such as "Long Flowing Water" and "Eighteen Turns". The Huaihe gongs and drums are sometimes euphemistic and smooth, sometimes sonorous and powerful, and the gong and drum beats are varied. In the performance of Huagu Lantern Gongs and Drums, "Lianchui Luo" and "Dingding Cang" are named according to the characteristics of the drum beats. "Long Luo" has continuity and plays the role of over-connection. "Long Flowing Water" is generally used in the running field in the big field, and can be used alternately with the long gong to make the rhythm rich in changes. "Dengbu Luo" has driving force and is used alternately with "Long Luo" and "Long Flowing Water" in the big field. The drum beats of the "Hou Dengbu Luo" are derived from the "Dengbu Luo". This kind of drum beats is not used much, but it has a good effect if used properly. The Huaihe River gongs and drums are diverse in form and each has its own characteristics. For example, the Weifeng gongs and drums popular in Lukou Town, Yingshang, the gongs and drums shed in Xinji Town, and the Huagudeng gongs and drums in Shencheng Town are all very representative gong and drum music. In recent years, many gong and drum works have emerged, such as "Long Flowing Water", "Eighteen Turns", "Small Ten Points", "Five Hammers Gong", "Small Five Turns", "Rabbit Digging a Nest", "Opening Gongs and Drums", etc.
