Qiang straw weaving craft
Qiang straw weaving is mainly a variety of straw weaving skills that have been passed down in the Qiang settlements in Beichuan for many years, among which straw sandals weaving, palm weaving of zodiac animals and insects, and straw straw paintings are the main ones. Before the 5.12 earthquake, Qiang straw weaving had a certain development in Beichuan. However, due to the impact of the 5.12 earthquake, both the straw weaving inheritors and the tools and raw materials related to straw weaving were devastated, and there were basically no complete personnel who could engage in straw weaving. Before the earthquake, Huang Qiang, the inheritor of Qiang straw weaving, had been committed to developing Beichuan's folk crafts, collecting relevant information on Qiang straw weaving, and learning various techniques from masters. After the 5.12 earthquake, with the support of the government, relevant technical training and product development were carried out, and a lot of work was done on the inheritance and development of Beichuan's straw weaving. At present, Qiang straw weaving has carried out more than 200 primary trainings, and has developed nearly 100 varieties of four series of craft straw sandals, palm weaving of zodiac animals, bamboo weaving crafts and straw craft paintings. And through continuous learning and improvement, under the premise of ensuring traditional straw weaving skills, productive protection, inheritance and development are carried out. Qiang straw weaving has gone through three stages: data collection, product development and technology improvement, technical training and mass production, and has achieved the initial stage results of Qiang straw weaving development. It has laid a solid foundation for the later development of Qiang straw weaving productive inheritance protection and the establishment of Qiang straw weaving demonstration production ecological protection area. At present, Qiang straw weaving has completed the work of technology inheritance and product development, external publicity and market promotion. The series of products have entered the market in batches, and have initially established their own sales and external publicity. At the same time, they have established long-term cooperative relations with Alibaba and Zhongke Business Network to ensure the market development needs of the products in the later stage. In order to carry out productive protection and build a demonstration base, the main problems currently faced by Qiang straw weaving include: 1. Raw material production and protection base, especially palm weaving raw materials and straw sandal weaving raw materials. To protect the palm leaves in Tangjiashan area and the rice grassland materials in Yong'an and Anchang areas damaged by the earthquake. 2. Technology inheritance and training, especially the production technology of tools and equipment required for straw weaving. Due to the destruction of the earthquake, the relevant tools in the homes of the original straw weaving practitioners were basically damaged and lost, and the artists who could process and make the relevant tools were basically killed in the earthquake, so the production technology of the relevant equipment needs rescue protection. Third: Carry out promotion and publicity. Since young people now have less and less understanding of our ancient handicrafts and related products, it is necessary to strengthen publicity so that more young people can understand the relevant products and their significance. (For example, straw shoes) Strengthen their understanding of the relevant history and products in order to lay the foundation for restoring these ancient crafts and products to the market. In order to solve these problems, the Qiang straw weaving urgently needs to carry out the following work: First: Establish a protection base for Qiang straw weaving raw materials: palm in the Tangjiashan barrier lake area, straw in Yong'an and Anchang, corn husks and bamboo in the Guannei area. Second: Rescue and excavate the Qiang straw weaving related tool making technology, and cultivate the inheritors and practitioners of straw weaving. According to the current market development, a large number of practitioners need to be trained to meet the needs of foreign trade of later products, and at the same time, explore the ancient Qiang weaving craftsmanship. Third: Establish a training center for Qiang straw weaving and a market demonstration base, and build a Beichuan Qiang agricultural culture industrial park and straw weaving expo park that integrates inheritance, display, experience and sightseeing. This will allow young people to truly experience the charm of ancient Qiang straw weaving.
