Tibetan Thangka (Langkajie Thangka)
Tibetan thangka (Langkajie thangka), a traditional art. Thangka is known as the "encyclopedia of Tibetan culture". Its subject matter is mainly religious, involving history, politics, economy, culture, folklore, secular life, architecture, medicine, astronomy, calendar and other fields. It can generally be divided into religious and non-religious categories. Religious categories include: mandala paintings, previous lives, tree gatherings, ancestral portraits, life biographies, Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, main deities, dakini, arhats, reincarnation pictures, Western Paradise, etc. Non-religious categories include: history, legends, astronomy and calendar, Tibetan medicine, etc. The most common of these is religious paintings of Buddha. This type of thangka generally depicts the main characters in the center, starting from the upper corner of the picture, surrounding the main body, and covering a circle of characters, activity places or stories related to the central character in a clockwise direction. Each thangka painting generally depicts a relatively complete story, and the scenery of the picture changes with the needs of the plot, without being restricted by history, time and space. The characters in the picture are also not affected by the distance relationship, and the composition is balanced, full and changeable. On May 24, 2021, the Tibetan thangka (Langkajie thangka) submitted by Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Region of Sichuan Province was approved by the State Council to be included in the extended list of representative items of national intangible cultural heritage, with the heritage number: VII-14.
