As a unique national costume, Osuobudi of Huidong Yi has existed and continued in the long river of history, forming a unique clothing culture in its own region. Local Yi women still wear Osuobudi on important occasions to maintain their own national clothing traditions and clothing culture. With the development of history, Osuobudi has become a symbol of higher status among local Yi women. A hat should be carefully made with a large amount of blue cloth and equipped with rich ornaments to show wealth and nobility. [Era of Origin] The Yi people have a long history. The Yi people experienced a long matriarchal society before entering the patriarchal society. The local Yi people have passed down such a story from generation to generation. In the matriarchal society, women were smarter than men. In the first year, Zhige Along gave a ram to a woman to raise. In the second year, Zhige Along ran to ask the woman if my sheep had foals. The woman immediately asked him back, can you have children? Zhige Along was speechless. He felt that women were too smart, so he made an Osuobudi for Yi women and wrapped it with cloth to weaken women's wisdom, making them less smart than men. This is the ideology from the period of transition from matriarchal society to patriarchal society. Osuobudi was created during the transition period from matriarchal society to patriarchal society. Due to its unique shape and decorativeness, it is generally recognized by Yi women. With the evolution of history, Huidong Yi Osuobudi gradually formed its own unique style, making Yi women's overall dress look taller. Later, due to the inconvenience of wearing it during labor, it was gradually only worn by women of noble status. Because only women of noble status can work without going to the fields, with the development of history, Osuobudi has become a symbol of higher status among local Yi women. A hat should be carefully made with a large amount of blue cloth and equipped with rich ornaments to show wealth and nobility. After liberation, with the improvement of the living standards of the Yi people, the range of Osuobudi wearers gradually expanded, but due to the limitation of labor and the impact of modern clothing, wearing it made them work. Usually only a few middle-aged and elderly people wear it. Only during major festivals and major events, local Yi women wear Osuobudi in their best clothes to show solemnity. [Distribution Area] Huidong County is located in the southwest of Sichuan Province. It is a mountainous agricultural county at the southernmost end of Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture. It is located between longitude 10213103315 east and latitude 261214265542 north. It covers an area of 3227.55 square kilometers. The county boundary lines are uneven, mostly defined by mountains and rivers, and are shaped like broad leaves. The county is surrounded by the Jinsha River in the southeast, and faces Qiaojia County, Dongchuan City, and Luquan County in Yunnan Province across the river. It is adjacent to Huili in the west and Ningnan in the north. There are 17 ethnic minorities distributed here, including Yi, Lisu, Buyi, Miao, Zhuang, Bai, Manchu, Dai, Tujia, Mongolian, Dong, Qiang, and Mulao. The Ossobudi of the Yi people in Huidong County is mainly distributed in Yezu Township, Xueshan Township, Lunan Township, Lama Township, and Baishan Township. Since the wearing of Ossobudi is only suitable for areas with lower temperatures, these places are areas with higher altitudes and lower temperatures, so they are the main concentrated areas for the clothing, wearing, and production of the Ossobudi of the Yi people in Huidong County. [Basic Content] 1. Structural modeling The Ossobudi of the Yi people in Huidong County is a unique ethnic costume worn by Yi women. According to its height, it is divided into high hats and medium hats. Its height is generally between 8 inches and 1 foot. The height of the high hat is generally about 1 foot, and the height of the medium hat is about 8 inches. The diameter depends on the head circumference of the wearer. The inside is woven into a cylindrical shape for support, and the outside is decorated with black cloth. It is handmade into eight distinct corners, commonly known as the "octagonal hat". Paired with the fine pleated high-waist wool felt and large-flared pleated skirt of local Yi women, it shows the beauty of female curves and has a noble and elegant temperament. II. Production process 1. Select bamboo Choose green bamboo without scars and with a growth period of more than two years and less than five years. 2. Planing bamboo Ask an experienced bamboo craftsman to separate the green and yellow bamboo strips of the bamboo; after planing out the yellow strips, soak them in water for more than 7 days and then dry them. (This will increase the toughness of the bamboo strips and make them durable). 3. Weaving Choose an auspicious day and ask a local respected elder to weave. When weaving, the height and size of the Osobudi are determined according to the height and head circumference of the wearer. For example, for a tall person, the height of the hat can be lower, while for a short person, the hat should be slightly higher. After determining the size of the hat, the elder weaves the prepared bamboo strips into a cylindrical shape. 4. Sewing (1) Usually black cloth is used for sewing. First, cut the eight-foot cloth in half from the width. Then overlap the two pieces of cloth and sew the three edges with black thread (leave one long edge unsewn). (2) Two people pull the cloth strips apart (the unsewn edge faces down). Then fold them in half at the midpoint and then fold them in half separately. Then sew the folded cloth at the overlapping points. Four corners are formed. (3) Bring the ends of the four sides to the center and connect them, then turn the whole thing over to the back and fold each corner into a triangle composed of two triangles. After it is completely arranged, a square is formed. (4) Sew the medians and isosceles sides of the four triangles. Then, fold the diagonal lines of the square from the corners to create some wrinkles (the same length as the other sides). (5) Put the sewn hat on the bamboo tube and sew the seams on the bamboo tube. Sew wrinkles on the brim of the hat. 3. Decoration Osobudi is usually decorated according to the wearer's family conditions. Objects similar to silver coins are often used to decorate the top of Osobudi. There are also ornaments such as agate beads, which hang down from both sides of Osobudi. The long part either falls on the chest or is wrapped around the neck. Because the tall hat has a noble and solemn temperament, there is no pattern decoration, but with the development of the times and the changes in modern aesthetic consciousness, some people (young people) now wear tall hats with gold edges and other pattern decorations.
