Lao Sun's Restaurant is located in the middle section of East Street. It was founded in the 24th year of Emperor Guangxu's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1898) by Sun Guangxian and Sun Wannian, uncle and nephew of Xi'an Hui people. It mainly sells more than 500 kinds of Muslim dishes and snacks, such as beef and mutton steamed buns, stir-fried dishes, mutton hot pot, roasted whole lamb, whole lamb banquet, etc. During the Republic of China period, Zhang Xueliang, Yang Hucheng, Yu Youren and others entertained guests here. After the founding of New China, party and state leaders Liu Shaoqi, Zhou Enlai, Deng Yingchao, Peng Dehuai, He Long, Chen Yi, -, -, - and others have tasted beef and mutton steamed buns here and gave high praise. The new building was rebuilt and opened in 1990. The new building has an elegant Islamic style, with a business area of 1,400 square meters, and can accommodate five to six hundred people for dining at the same time. There are 6 special seats in the restaurant, including Sixuan Hall, Wuzhen Hall, Qingfeng Hall, Jimu Hall, Ningyun Hall, and Yiyu Hall. Sixuan Hall is a place for scholars to meet friends, equipped with four treasures of the study; Wuzhen Hall has large windows and bright rooms, and carpets with Mecca holy figures are hung on the walls for Muslims to hold wedding banquets. The restaurant serves abalone, roasted lamb ribs, fried eight treasures with fine sand, snow mountain goldfish, chrysanthemum chicken slices, pearl prawns, chrysanthemum fish, etc., all of which are famous dishes in Xi'an.
