Huadeng Opera is the main local opera in Guizhou and Yunnan. It originated from folk lantern songs and dances. It developed into a local opera in the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China. In the process of popularity, it was influenced by local dialects, folk songs and customs, forming a variety of different singing and performance styles. During the performance of Huadeng Opera, the artists always hold fans and handkerchiefs in their hands, singing and dancing, and the singing and acting are closely combined. Guizhou Huadeng Opera is mainly popular in Dushan, Zunyi, Bijie, Anshun, Tongren and other places. The names of different places are different. It is called "Dengjia Opera" in northern and western Guizhou, "Deng" in Dushan, and "Gaotai Opera" or "Huadeng Opera" in Sinan, Yinjiang and other places. Among them, Dushan Huadeng Opera has more than 140 performances, including 85 early dramas such as "Jinling Ji" and "Python Ji", 27 transplanted dramas such as "The Case of the Chopping of the Beauty" and 27 newly created dramas such as "Seventh Sister and the Snake Man". Yunnan Lantern Opera has three branches: Kunming Lantern Opera, Yuxi Lantern Opera and Yao'an Lantern Opera. In addition, there are many small branches. Wenshan, Qujing, Chuxiong, Midu, Luoping, Yuanmou, Lufeng, Jianshui, Mengzi and other places have their own lantern opera. Yunnan Lantern Opera was originally performed with a heavy singing and dancing component. Later, influenced by the Yunnan Opera and other operas, there appeared plays with more tortuous and complex plots. At the same time, the tunes of other operas were absorbed and changed, expanded and renovated to form new tunes of lantern opera. The most prosperous period of Yunnan Lantern Opera was the 1950s and 1960s. At this time, not only did many famous lantern opera actors such as Shi Baofeng, Xiong Jiechen, and Yuan Liu'an emerge, but also a number of repertoires that were famous on the Yunnan opera stage, such as "Exploring the Dry Sister", "Naodu", "Liu Cheng Watching Vegetables", and "Three Visits to Relatives".
