In terms of singing form, there are solo, duet, group duet, collective singing and simple two-part chorus; the time and occasion of singing are relatively free and flexible, and even the language of the lyrics is half Chinese and half Yi or even pure Chinese; the lyrics structure is mostly seven words and four sentences, and there are also four sentences and one question, four sentences and one answer. The tune is gentle and melodious, and is called "Lashanqiang" by the locals. "Folk songs come from Yuni River, people go to carry them and horses go to carry them. Three horses went in front, and there are nine baskets in the back." It vividly sings the richness and diversity of Yi folk songs. Panxian Yi folk songs have unique singing techniques, such as throat and head cavity resonance, true and false voice mixing, etc., which make them uniquely charming. The older generation passed on this ingenious skill by "passing it on orally and teaching it by heart". Panxian Yi folk songs, in the form of duets, advocate the concepts of respecting the old and loving the young, loving couples, harmonious neighbors, hardworking and kind, interdependence, and harmonious coexistence between man and nature. They have broad educational significance in today's interpersonal and interethnic exchanges. The Yi people continue to inherit the fine tradition of hospitality and friendliness in modern society. They play an important role in strengthening national unity and building a harmonious society.
