Miao embroidery is a three-dimensional pattern made by Miao women living in the deep mountains and mountains, using five-color silk threads to embroider on Miao cloth according to their unique aesthetic taste and feelings about natural life. The composition is simple and unsophisticated, the colors are warm and original, the embroidery method is unique, and the three-dimensional sense is strong. The main characteristics of Miao embroidery are: first, the embroidery needles are very primitive, made of fish bones, chicken wings or chrysanthemum bamboo growing on the stone nests of Miao Mountain. The needle tube is hollow with a diameter of about one millimeter. A round hole is drilled on the oblique surface of the needle tip, and the silk thread is passed through the needle tube and led out through the round hole of the needle tip. After the 1980s, special metal embroidery needles were mainly used. Second, the materials are exquisite, using five-color silk threads and linen spun and dyed by Miao Mountain. Third, the embroidery method is unique. According to the needs of their own composition, the embroiderer inserts silk threads of different colors directly into the linen on the bamboo scaffolding, and then pulls out the embroidery needle. With one insertion and one withdrawal, the embroidery thread becomes a double strand and remains on the front of the cloth, forming a three-dimensional pattern with flat embroidery threads on the back and raised thread ends on the front. Then, the raised embroidery threads on the front are trimmed with scissors according to the needs of the pattern. Fourth, the composition uses bold colors. Miao embroidery is mainly red and green, supplemented by other colors. The coloring is warm, bold and vivid. It is a manifestation of the intelligence and wisdom of Miao women, a carrier of aesthetic taste and spiritual life, rich in national flavor and strong artistic appeal, full of mystery and aura. The technical characteristics and authenticity it contains are the treasures of Miao culture.
