Taijiang Miao embroidery is one of the most typical folk art works of Miao embroidery, mainly distributed in Shidong Town, Taijiang County, Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture, Guizhou Province. Taijiang Miao embroidery is an important part of Miao costumes. The cultural connotations contained in its patterns and decorations reflect the historical changes of the Miao people after repeated migrations. According to its content and style, the costumes can be divided into nine types: Fangni type, Fangjiu type, Fangnan type, Fangweng type, Fangbai type, Fangxiu type, Wengmang type and Houshao type. It can be called "wordless history" and is a sign and symbol of ethnic identification. The exquisite shape, exquisite craftsmanship and color matching of the costumes are the standards for measuring the intelligence and talent of Miao women. Before getting married, Miao girls have to embroider a set of dowry by hand. It usually takes three to five years from the beginning to the completion. Only Miao girls with clever hands can win people's praise, love and pursuit. Taijiang Miao embroidery has rich pictures. Common themes include birds and animals, flowers, birds, fish and insects with unique shapes. The most widely used patterns are dragons, fish, butterflies, centipedes and bats. The needlework used includes flat embroidery, wrinkled embroidery, entangled embroidery, overlapping embroidery, lock embroidery, pile embroidery, distinguishing embroidery, tin embroidery, thread-breaking embroidery, seed-beating embroidery, horsetail embroidery and thread-stitching embroidery. The colors are harmonious and quiet, and the needlework is even and smooth. It has the characteristics of bright colors, lifelike images and distinct layers.
