Hunan
🎧  Listen to Introduction

Lanxi folk songs were originally labor songs, reflecting both labor life and love stories. After Fenglin Bridge was built in the Qing Dynasty, folk songs were regularly sung on the bridge embankment on the fifth and fifteenth day of the fifth lunar month. There are more than 60 types of tunes, including high, flat and low tunes, with many styles and singing methods, and the masses composed and sang them themselves. In 1956, the folk song "Green Bird Sister Green Belly" produced by China National Radio, which reflects the folk customs of Fenglin Bridge, became popular throughout the country and has been passed down to this day.
