Lichuan Lantern Song is a folk singing form in Lichuan during festivals and celebrations, with singing and dancing, and colorful dragon boats as props. In ancient times, it was only performed during the Spring Festival and Lantern Festival. Because the actors' makeup and dancing postures have the embryonic form of drama, it is commonly known as "lantern clip play". After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Lichuan Lantern Song gradually separated from the customs of the New Year and became a kind of mass cultural activity that can be performed at any time for mass celebrations and leisure. The lanterns and colorful dragon boats played by Lichuan Lantern Song began in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. The songs sung are also called lantern tunes. They are composed of local traditional folk songs combined with the characteristics of playing lanterns and have unique characteristics. The singing content is mostly local customs and human feelings and love between men and women. The language is simple, the dialect is local, the lyrics are many, the lyrics are beautiful, the lyrics are interesting, the charm is infinite, and the ethnic and local characteristics are very strong. Rowing on dry land, Bashan and Chushui, the dance is dragon boat racing, the performance is colorful dragon dance, but the singing is about chopping wood in the mountains, planting melons in the garden, and girls paying New Year's greetings. The life and labor scenes are interesting, and the Ba and Chu cultures are perfectly integrated, with high cultural and artistic value. In 2010, the "Lichuan Lantern Song" of Lichuan City, Hubei Province was selected into the third batch of national intangible cultural heritage list, traditional music project category.
