Caotun Paigu has a history of more than 400 years since its formation in the Ming Dynasty. In the long process of development, Paigu has accompanied the emergence and development of social folk activities, forming a dependence on social forms and folk customs. Initially, Caotun Paigu was mainly used for sacrifices and worship of gods. Except for participating in grand celebrations of sacrifices, it did not participate in other activities to show the sacredness of the shrine. With the development and progress of society, Caotun Paigu has entered the lives of the people. At present, the drum routines and tunes performed by Caotun Paigu were mostly formed more than 300 years ago and passed down by generations of artists. The props used in the performance, such as Paigu, bronze, fire guns, etc., are rich in national traditional characteristics. Caotun Paigu is divided into three categories: actors (lion dance, drums), ceremonial guards, and logistics, with clear division of labor. During the performance, there are many people, the community is solemn, majestic, and the momentum is huge, which is very spectacular.
