Guozhuang is a kind of unaccompanied collective dance for self-entertainment of Tibetans. In the Tibetan areas of Shangri-La County, Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Guozhuang is called "Guozhuo", which means circle dance and happy dance. During major festivals, weddings, important gatherings, welcoming and seeing off guests, and harvest seasons, Tibetans will dance happily all night long. There are often grand scenes of Guozhuang with thousands of people and tens of thousands of people. Shangri-La Guozhuang is divided into new and old Guozhuang. The old Guozhuang "Cha Ni" mostly reflects the content of primitive religion and has a strong sacrificial nature. It can only dance special movements and sing special lyrics. It is mostly loved by religious people and the elderly. The new Guozhuang "Cha Si" is a song and dance that constantly absorbs new content and new forms with the development of the times. The dance posture and lyrics are relatively flexible and have a strong contemporary flavor. The dance steps of Shangri-La Guozhuang dance are divided into three categories, namely walking dance, turning dance, and simulated animal dance. The walking dance is simple and can attract a large number of people to dance together; the turning dance has various postures and types, and the commonly danced ones are two-and-a-half-step dance, six-step dance, eight-step dance, six-step plus beat, eight-step plus beat, etc.; the simulated animal dance simulates the shapes and movements of monkeys, rabbits, peacocks, etc. Men and women sing and dance to each other, first dancing in slow tempo, then gradually speeding up the dance steps, and ending in a warm fast tempo. There are hundreds of tunes for Guozhuang dance and thousands of lyrics, and the lyrics all have a set of rigorous and ingenious metaphor rules. The costumes of Guozhuang dance are the festive costumes of Tibetans, and the costumes in different regions have their own characteristics. The Guozhuang dance in Shangri-La County is inherited by all local Tibetans and has a very broad mass base. There are special Guozhuang dance teams in the villages where Tibetans live. There are famous artists who dance Guozhuang dance in each region, such as Yang Qingke and Ma Zhongchun in Jiantang Town, Ge Ma in Xiaozhongdian, and A Ji in Wujing Township.
