Wei County is located in the southern part of Hebei Province and belongs to the Ji'nan Plain. This area is remote, with pure folk customs, profound folk culture and rich folk art, which gave birth to the nationally famous Lihua Dagu with unique artistic charm. Lihua Dagu originated in the southeastern part of Hebei and the northwest of Shandong at the junction of Zhidong and flourished in the Wei County area. It was originally called "plowshare drum" because the singers beat the plowshares and sang farm songs. It originated in the middle of the Ming Dynasty and gradually evolved from "Da Yangko" to a form of rap, with a history of more than 400 years. The "Travels of Lao Can" written by Liu E, a writer in the Qing Dynasty, recorded the grand performance of Lihua Dagu in Jinan. After the Republic of China, Lihua Dagu was widely popular in Wei County and surrounding areas of northwest Shandong, northern Henan, Taiyuan, Shijiazhuang, Baoding and other places. During this period, the art of Lihua Dagu not only made great progress, but also the singing team continued to grow, and famous actors emerged, which was extremely prosperous. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Lihua drum has experienced unprecedented prosperity. Wei County alone has presented a situation of three major groups, namely Sun's, Wei's and Guo's. In 1978, Sun Jinzhi, a member of the Chinese Qu Association, vice chairman of the Hebei Qu Association and a famous Lihua drum actor, sang "Thinking of Relatives in the Square" on the Central People's Broadcasting Station and Hebei People's Broadcasting Station many times, and it is well-known throughout the country. The main accompaniment instruments of Lihua drum are crescent board (also called pear blossom piece), short foot drum and big three-string. The singer holds the drumstick in his right hand to beat the drum, and the left hand plays the crescent board to sing, and the musician accompanies with three-string. After the 1970s, accompaniment instruments such as four-stringed fiddle, two-stringed fiddle and yangqin were added to enrich the performance effect and enhance the accompaniment expression. The singing style of Lihua drum is mainly Lihua cavity of the board cavity, and the board style mainly includes four types: slow board, two-character board, fast board and scattered board. Lihua drum has a unique singing style, rich repertoire, and strong local color. It is not only a form of rap performance, but also a unique vocal art. It has had a significant impact on other art categories, and many types of folk art still retain the Lihua tune. Its singing style has been absorbed by Jingyun drum, Meihua drum, Henan zhuizi, Shandong Kuaishu and other types of music, and has a high cultural and artistic value.
