Luochuan Biegu is mainly spread in Huangzhang, Yongxiang, Jiuxian and other villages in Luochuan County, Shaanxi Province. It is one of the famous "three drums" (chest drum, waist drum, and Biegu) in Yan'an. In Shaanxi dialect, "jumping" is called "bie". This dance is characterized by jumping, so it is called "biegu". Luochuan was a place fought over by Qin, Jin and Wei during the Warring States Period. Legend has it that Biegu evolved from military formations, and then it was combined with local folk sacrificial rain-praying activities and spread to this day. The known inheritors of Biegu performances in Huangzhang Township have reached six generations. The performers of Luochuan Biegu are all men. When performing, they wrap their heads with war scarves, insert war flags on their backs, wear war skirts around their waists, and wrap their legs with bands. They may carry drums, or hold gongs and cymbals (big cymbals). When dancing with drums, gongs and cymbals, the basic movements include single jumps, double jumps, stepping, twisting and swinging, etc. The main scenes include "white horse splits its mane", "scorpion twists its tail", "single horse pounces on the formation", "four walls surround", "pin character combination", etc. Performers make various poses while dancing, jumping and leaping, and rush left and right to fight and fight in the sound of gongs and drums, as if they are on the battlefield. Their movements are rough, fierce and bold, and full of power. Luochuan is the "hometown of dance drums" of Chinese folk art. Luochuan's drumming has become famous in China and the world. It has received foreign guests from France, West Germany, Australia and other countries, as well as compatriots from Hong Kong and Macao. It has also participated in major celebrations such as the World Tourism Festival, the National and Provincial Art Festivals, the opening ceremony of the Asian Games and the celebration of the 55th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, and has been widely welcomed by people at home and abroad.
