Fengnan Fishermen's Song (selected into the second batch of Tangshan Municipal Intangible Cultural Heritage List in 2011) The origin of fishermen's songs can be traced back to ancient times. In ancient times, they were called "songs of persuasion". It not only has the function of inspiring emotions and regulating spirits, but also has the function of directing production, coordinating movements, and unifying actions. As an ancient ballad and spiritual command sung by fishermen during production and labor, fishermen's songs have been circulated in the coastal area of Fengnan for a long time. Deep in the salt fields and tidal flats is the famous fishing ground in eastern Hebei. According to historical records, as early as the Han and Wei dynasties, the fishery production here was as prosperous as the salt industry of "Ten Thousand Stoves Boiling the Sea". Fengnan Fishermen's Song was created and popular in the coastal areas of Heiyanzi and Dongtianzhuang in Fengnan. Like the ancient ballads that originated from labor, it is a kind of folk labor song created and developed by fishermen in their long labor struggle life. During the fishing trip, they hummed while working, coordinated their movements, boosted morale, and delighted their souls. Fengnan folk songs, like other labor songs, are led by one person and sung by others. They are majestic and powerful, with sonorous rhythms. They also have a strong maritime style, and the melodious and graceful parts are like crystal waves, and the ups and downs are like surging waves. Under the leadership of the head of the horn, one call and the crowd responded. The sonorous rhythm and high and thick tone make all the personnel an inseparable whole, generating a huge power. Fengnan fishermen's songs, after continuous development and improvement by generations of fishermen, have formed a fixed format and style by the 1950s. Generally speaking, its beat rhythm is mostly 2/4, and the soothing and lyrical parts are 4/4. The lyrics sung are mostly "Hey ya hey yo, hey ya hey... hey hey yo hey yo" and so on. After being processed and sorted out by several generations of literary and artistic workers in Fengnan, some of the working conditions at that time were also reflected in it. For example, at the festive moment after the fishing harvest, happy phrases such as "Loading the cabin! The fish harvest is so good, we are so happy" were added, and gradually formed a multi-section folk song. The fishermen's songs in Fengnan are composed of five sections: "Looking for Fish Schools", "Rowing", "Raising the Sail", "Pulling the Net" and "Loading the Cabin". Each section is combined with the lead and the chorus. The melody is vigorous, sonorous, loud, rough and heroic. The musical image has a distinct personality and local characteristics, showing the optimism and fearless heroism of the people along the coast of Fengnan. Whenever the exciting fishermen's songs are sung, the magnificent pictures of the fishermen who are not afraid of hardships, cut through the waves and move forward courageously will all appear before people's eyes. The fishermen's songs in Fengnan are a unique folk phenomenon created by the majority of fishermen in the production practice of fighting against wind and waves, and have irreplaceable value in studying the folk culture of Fengnan. Today, the fishermen's songs have been performed on stage for the public. She has participated in various competitions on behalf of Fengnan, Tangshan and Hebei, and has won many awards.
