Five Tiger Sticks
Five Tiger Sticks (selected into the first batch of municipal intangible cultural heritage list of Tangshan in 2009) Five Tiger Sticks in Kangge Village, Zunhua City, was founded during the reign of Emperor Guangxu. It was learned by Hu Guoshun, a villager of Kangge Village, when he visited his relatives' home. He also founded the Kangge Village Five Tiger Stick Association, which has a history of more than 100 years. The performance props are mainly long sticks (eyebrow sticks) and double short sticks. The accompanying instruments are mainly big hall drums, big gongs, cymbals, and water d. The costumes are the five tigers of the Dong family wearing black mane hats, and Dong Da wearing red beards; the red face wears black beards and Luo hats; the black face is a young man without beards, wearing Luo hats, and these characters all have Wusheng board belts around their waists. Legend has it that before Song Taizu Zhao Kuangyin became emperor, he met the five tigers of the Dong family when he was sending his daughter to Beijing for thousands of miles and passed by Xiaojin Bridge. He was defeated by the five tigers of the Dong family. At this time, Zheng En, who saw injustice and drew his sword to help, came to the rescue and defeated the five tigers and eradicated the bullies. Later generations interpreted this legend into a folk flower show called "Five Tiger Sticks" and it has been passed down to this day. In Kanggezhuang Village, Xindianzi Town, Zunhua City, this performance form has been passed down for hundreds of years. Because the weapons used by Zhao, Zheng and Dongjia Wuhu in the fight were all sticks, it was called "Five Tiger Sticks". Five Tiger Sticks is a folk art activity that combines language and martial arts. During the performance, the actors all wear costumes and draw opera masks. It is mainly passed on to the next generation through verbal and practical teaching. It can be performed on stage or in the streets. And because the story of the Five Tiger Sticks is tortuous, the martial arts moves and routines are diverse, and the performers have a certain foundation in martial arts, so every performance organized by them in various villages around the Spring Festival will be deeply welcomed and loved by the masses. It is said that the "Five Tiger Sticks" in Kanggezhuang was first in the late Qing Dynasty. When the villager Hu Guoshun lived in his grandmother's house when he was young, he learned the performance of "Five Tiger Sticks". When he returned to the village, he found his companions to play with him, but because he was not familiar with the routines, he could not perform a real performance. As it happened, there was a long-term worker in the village who was also familiar with the performance of "Five Tiger Sticks", so he worked with Hu Guoshun and others to rehearse the entire performance of "Five Tiger Sticks". So, as a cultural activity of the Spring Festival, it was performed together with the dragon lantern festival, stilt festival, and small car festival of the village. During the heyday of the "Five Tiger Sticks" performance, the "Five Tiger Sticks" not only performed in the Spring Festival in the village, but were also invited to perform at the Bijiashan Temple Fair on April 8th every year, and the order was directly ranked in the second grade (the first grade was the opening gongs and drums of eight big drums and eight big fans), and among all the invited flower fairs, only the "Five Tiger Sticks" of Kangge Village were qualified to perform on stage. Later, the "Five Tiger Sticks" were also invited to Zunhua County for adjustment. In this activity, people not only enjoyed their bodies and minds, but also exercised their bodies. Through performances, they could also convey the festive and peaceful atmosphere of the Spring Festival to each other.
