Yifeng Bamboo Art (the fourth batch of provincial level) Yifeng Bamboo Art has a long history. According to the inference of archaeological experts on the bamboo art works collected by our county museums and folk collections, it can be traced back to at least the late Qing Dynasty, and has a history of more than 100 years. Yifeng is located in the south foot of Jiuling Mountains in northwest Jiangxi, adjacent to Shanggao in the east, Tonggu in the west, Wanzai in the south, and Fengxin in the north, with a total area of 1,935 square kilometers. It has a mild climate, abundant rainfall, beautiful mountains and rivers, and dense bamboo forests. It is one of the top ten bamboo towns in China. There are 480,000 acres of bamboo forests in the territory, which has reserved extremely rich material resources for the production of Yifeng bamboo art, and has also cultivated generations of skilled craftsmen. In 1972, Peng Niu, who graduated from Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts, came to Yifeng and became very interested in Yifeng's bamboo carving art. He was determined to carry forward this traditional art and push it into a new era. So, he put down his brush, picked up a carving knife, and began to carefully study the bamboo carving art of Yifeng. On the basis of adhering to traditional skills, he integrated modern design concepts and advanced technology, and applied cloisonné, gold, silver and jade inlay techniques, Dongyang wood carving techniques and Huangyan Huanghua bamboo carving knife techniques to bamboo carving art, making Yifeng bamboo art, from the original single carving technique, developed into Yifeng bamboo art that integrates carving, inlaying and engraving, and has strong regional cultural characteristics. At the same time, the two technologies he invented, "Southern Bamboo Inlay Crafts", "Double-sided Carving" and "Double-sided Different Carving", have all obtained national patents, pushing Yifeng bamboo art into a new wave, and he has also become a master of Chinese folk arts and crafts. Yifeng bamboo art is rich in content, diverse in variety, and complex in craftsmanship. Commonly used materials include bamboo stumps, bamboo poles, bamboo branches, scraps and bamboo shoot shells. The bamboo art works made through a series of processes such as material selection, cutting, slicing, yellowing, steaming, bleaching, mold support, carving, inlaying, polishing, and painting have unique shapes, profound meanings, and elegant tastes. They are fine products for beautifying life, decorating homes, giving gifts to relatives and friends, and collecting. They are very popular among the general public and are exported to Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia, Europe and the United States. As a product of the combination of natural beauty and artistic beauty, Yifeng bamboo art has both extremely high historical and cultural value and many values such as appreciation, practicality, collection, and economic development. With the continuous improvement of material life, Yifeng bamboo art, a green and environmentally friendly product, is increasingly favored by the general public with its unique charm. Protecting and inheriting this precious cultural heritage has great and far-reaching significance for understanding China's humanities and history, promoting national culture, and engaging in research on fine arts and sculpture art.
