Cihua Temple, located in Nanquan Mountain, Yuanzhou, Yichun, is one of the Buddhist temples in Jiangnan that was once awarded as "the first Zen temple in the world" by Emperor Taizu Zhu Yuanzhang of the Ming Dynasty. It was founded in the second year of Qiandao in the Southern Song Dynasty, that is, in 1166 AD. The founder of Cihua Temple was a Bodhisattva-level monk, with the Dharma name Pu'an. For example, at the beginning of the temple construction, Pu'an led people to the Jinzhong Lake forest area in Hunan to purchase wood, and fought wits and courage with the greedy and cunning mountain owner Wu in the "Wood Well"; when accepting the thousand-jin iron bell presented by the donor Li Yuanwai, Pu'an and Lv Dongbin handled it, leaving behind the magical story of the "Snot Bell"; after the completion of Cihua Temple, it welcomed people from all over the world to worship, and a butcher named Yi was influenced to abandon the old and start anew, and was happy to do good deeds. He wrote the eight words "Put down the butcher knife, and become a Buddha on the spot" and gave it to him. This sentence later became an idiom, etc.
