Jiujiang Silk String Gongs and Drums (the fourth batch of provincial level) Silk string gongs and drums have a long history of being spread in Jiujiang County. Yong'an, Gangkou, Chengzi, Jiangzhou, Mahuiling, Huanglaomen and other places have been active in many silk string gongs and drums teams. For example, Baihua Temple Village in Gangkou Street Town has five generations of descendants from the late Qing Dynasty to the present, and there have been groups from generation to generation. For more than a hundred years, it has been passed down for a long time. In addition to the commonly used percussion instruments, the silk string gongs and drums circulated in Baihua Temple, Gangkou Street Town, Jiujiang County, the orchestral instruments are also relatively intact. Its performance form and content have absorbed the dramatic music elements and expression techniques of Han Opera. The tunes are constantly improved, and the expressiveness and performance skills are becoming more and more abundant, forming a unique local music. In the percussion instruments of Jiujiang Silk String Gongs and Drums, the drum is for issuing orders, the big gong is the soul, the cymbals are for corresponding, and the horse gongs and small gongs are used for embellishment and coordination. In the tune, the length of "Long Hammer" and "Yin Yang Riding Horse" is only one bar. The longest tune is only four bars long, and all of them are developed from one bar as the motive, and two bars are used as a sentence. The rhythm is very strong, full of personality, and easy to connect. The ups and downs of emotions are expressed through the combination of sound, rhythm contrast, and speed changes. In the tunes such as "Big Plum Blossom", "News", and "Lookout", the big gong is particularly prominent, generally expressing passionate emotions. In the tunes such as "0 Sound", "Twist", and "Seven-Character Gong", the horse gong and the small gong are pleasant to the ear, and appear light and lively. The fast and slow long hammers are repeated in the same tone of the 42 beats. In the advancement, they are expected, and suddenly turn to the 43 beats of "Yin Yang Riding a Horse", which suddenly feels like a galloping horse, and then turn to the stretching rhythm of "Happy Face Returning", which is like the expression of dismounting after stopping. The silk string gongs and drums have their own connection routines. "Zhong Jinzhong" and "Kaitang" are the opening tunes. The big cymbals are clicked continuously, like the sound of a golden bell to open the curtain. The connection of other tunes depends on the emotional needs. "Long Hammer" and "Luan Zhuan Jing" are the connecting links between the tunes and the transition of emotions. When played in full, it is like thousands of people rejoicing; when played in silence, it is like striving forward; the crystal-clear small gong is like the gurgling of flowing water; when the horse gong is thrown and struck, it is like the singing of orioles and the dancing of swallows.
