Jiangxi Mulian Opera (the fourth batch of national-level) The spread of Mulian Opera in southern provinces is carried out simultaneously with the spread of Yiyang Opera. Jiangxi Mulian Opera is distributed throughout the province. Jiangxi Yiyang Opera, Qingyang Opera, Donghe Opera, Wuyuan Hui Opera Gaoqiang, puppet show and other operas all perform Mulian Opera, and are related to Buddhist and Taoist music. Jiangxi Mulian Opera, with Yiyang Opera Mulian as the main body, is the source of Gaoqiang Mulian in the country. Jiangxi Mulian Opera is usually performed during the Yulan Festival. In the seventh year of Emperor Qianlong's reign, Jiangxi Governor Chen Hongmou's "Prohibition of Collecting Money from Competitions" recorded: "Every Zhongyuan Festival, money is collected from every store in and outside the provincial capital, and people gather to build towers and make paper images of hideous ghosts and monsters. At night, tower lights are lit and drums are played loudly. During the day, the "Mulian Opera" is performed and the audience is crowded." The "Yiyang County Annals" of the 14th year of the Republic of China recorded: "During the Zhongyuan Festival, family sacrifices are made, paper money and paper clothes are burned, monks perform Yulan Buddhist ceremonies, and plays to compete with gods, and throw money like dirt."
