Kirin Sings
Kirin singing is a folk art project in the second batch of representative projects of municipal intangible cultural heritage in Huai'an. Historical origins Lianshui has a long history. Local people advocate education. Before the Song Dynasty, there was a school palace in the seat of the county government, and private schools were spread all over the county, making it a place of cultural gathering and respect for etiquette. There are many temples, monasteries, temples and nunneries in the territory. A large number of sacrificial activities are held every year. There are many artists and a wide variety of music types. "Kirin singing" is a form of folk art adapted by Lianshui Huidun artist Zhou Huaibao based on the folk myth of "Kirin sending children" and combined with local folk tunes. The performance time generally starts from the 24th day of the twelfth lunar month every year to the day of the dragon raising its head on the second day of the second lunar month of the following year. The singing is widely loved by people and many students come to study. Zhou Huaibao opened his door to accept disciples, and his disciples are all over Huai, Shu, Lian, Guan and other counties. There are many disciples in Lianshui, including Gao Tiancai, Zhou Hanjian, Liu Hairu, Wang Xiuhua and other descendants. Kirin singing has spread to surrounding counties and cities with Huidun in Lianshui as the center, and has a history of 150 years. Content and characteristics The props of Kirin singing are first to make a Kirin, with bamboo or reeds as the skeleton, about one meter long and fifty centimeters high. A small person is placed on the back of the Kirin to replace Guanyin, and the outside of the skeleton is covered with colored paper. Although the workmanship of the Kirin is crude, it has eyebrows and beards. When the Kitchen God is sent off on the 24th day of the twelfth lunar month every year, the Kirin singing performance in Lianshui area begins. The number of performers of Kirin singing varies from 4 to 6. One person carries the Kirin prop on his shoulder to lead the singing of the lyrics, and the others hold gongs, drums, hall gongs, erhu and other instruments in their hands, and lead the singing with small gongs as accompaniment. The lyrics are both like poems and lyrics. The leader sings the lyrics first, and the other four or five people follow the lyrics. The last sentence of the lyrics is repeated as the end of the performance. The lyrics can be five-character, six-character, seven-character, etc. The singing content is mainly based on the legends of ancient and modern historical heroes. Qilin singing is a unique folk art in Lianshui area. The content is touching and the language is simple and vivid. It has a certain reference value for studying the social culture of Lianshui.
