Historical evolution and distribution Xinglong Yangge is a form of folk music spread in Xinglong, Guanzhen, Baoji, Tiefo and other areas of Xuyi. It is a field song sung by local people during the field management of rice fields such as transplanting and pulling out rice seedlings, commonly known as "rice seedlings". Xinglong Township and other places are located in the western part of Xuyi County, surrounded by water on all sides. The Huaihe River is surrounded in a U shape in the east and south, and the vast waters of Xia Caowan Diversion Canal and Hongze Lake in the west and north. Due to the abundant water resources and the long history of rice planting, the work is heavy during the "rice seedling season" of rice planting every year, so everyone uses songs instead of words to respond to each other, and Yangge was born, which is widely spread among the people and has been passed down for a long time. In the 1970s, the Xinglong Commune Cultural Station invited provincial and municipal music workers to go deep into the area to dig out and sort out a large number of "rice horns", and organized farmers to carry out large-scale singing, which formed a "10,000 people singing yangge" craze. After being sorted out, these yangge programs have successively participated in the art performances of counties, regions, provinces and East China. After being broadcast on the Central People's Broadcasting Station, it was officially named "Xinglong Yangge".
