According to legend, in the first year of Tiansheng in the Song Dynasty, Fan Zhongyan served as the salt warehouse supervisor in Xixi, Dongtai. At that time, Fan's mother was weak and sick, but she was eccentric and hated to take soup medicine. Fan Gong, who was filial to his mother, was at a loss and worried. In order to find a good prescription that could cure the disease without taking soup medicine, he sought medical treatment everywhere. One day, a local doctor gave Fan Gong a good prescription: use glutinous rice with Chinese medicine to make medicinal wine for drinking, which can cure the old lady's disease. Fan's mother drank it and saw miraculous results. In the winter of the second year of Tiansheng, it snowed for ten days, and the workers who were repairing the dike were sick. Fan Gong also asked people to prepare this wine for the workers, and the workers recovered soon after drinking it. At that time, the people in Dongtai were very short of doctors and medicines, especially women who were weak and sick after giving birth. Seeing this, Fan Gong asked famous doctors and winemakers to develop medicinal wine to treat the sick people. The wine uses hemp tendon glutinous rice as the raw material, with 16 kinds of tonic medicines such as tangerine peel, astragalus, codonopsis, angelica, cinnamon, salvia, safflower, papaya, etc., and is brewed by pouring rice. It has the effects of replenishing qi and blood, benefiting the liver and strengthening the kidneys, dispelling wind and cold, relaxing muscles and activating collaterals, regulating qi and appetizing, and strengthening muscles and strengthening the body. Especially for pregnant women, drinking a cup of warm wine before each meal can not only dispel cold and warm the uterus, but also promote the recovery of the uterus. After brewing, it is stored in jars and named "Chenma wine". Because of the homophony and containing tangerine peel, it is called "Chenpi wine", and it has been circulated among the people since then. In the middle and late Qing Dynasty, Dongtai Chenpi wine was famous far and wide, and it was considered a unique product of Dongtai.
