Gongguluo, also known as Huaihailuogu, is a local traditional folk art form popular in northern Jiangsu Province and widely welcomed by the people. Gongguluo is convenient to perform, free and flexible. Artists only need to carry a drum and a gong, and can sing and sing on a bench. The instruments used are a drum and a gong. The drum is as small as a ball, with rings on both sides, and is suitable for hanging on the drum fork; the gong is as small as a plate. The left hand beats the gong, and the right hand beats the drum. The drum originated from Huai'an and Shizi Town, Shuyang, and the gong originated from Suzhou. According to the reputation of the artists, its formation is related to Dayu's flood control (historical records show that Dayu's father Gun was executed in Yushan, Donghai County for failing to control the flood), but according to relevant experts' research, Gongguluo formed a complete singing and singing form around the middle of the Qing Dynasty. During the Tong and Guang years of the Qing Dynasty, it was extremely popular in northern Jiangsu. Not only did famous artists emerge in large numbers, but also different art schools were formed, competing for beauty. During the revolutionary war, under the care and leadership of the party organizations and democratic governments in the revolutionary base areas, the gongguluo artists organized themselves to set up various progressive organizations such as the "Artists' National Salvation Association" and the "Artists' Training Team", studied the party's principles and policies, and compiled and sang new books such as "Down with the Little Japan", "Ten Laments of the Puppet Army", and "Anti-Sweeping", which played a powerful role in uniting the people, educating the people, fighting the enemy, and destroying the enemy. Some artists used their special identities to personally participate in the revolutionary war. Some died gloriously for the revolution. In the Huaihai Campaign, the artists actively supported the front and boosted morale, and were affectionately called "Huaihai Gonggu" by the people in the Huaihai area. Gongguluo belongs to the traditional opera art of chanting. Its voice is transformed from the dialect of Haizhou, with the characteristics of singing and singing. The singing is simple and honest, and the performance is rich and colorful. It is active in the streets and farmyards, and is very popular among the people in northern Jiangsu. According to statistics in 1985, there were more than 200 professional artists in Guanyun County, Lianyungang City who made a living from this.
