Yangzhou Traditional Pedicure
Extension of TCM diagnosis and treatment (Yangzhou traditional pedicure), also known as foot doctor, commonly known as foot pricking, also includes scraping and pinching feet in a broad sense. It refers to a medical technique in which a pedicurist repairs the feet by looking, asking, touching, and using special knives, applying pedicure techniques, and supplemented with appropriate Chinese medicinal materials. People who walk for a long time are very likely to suffer from foot diseases. If they are not repaired in time, they will be harmful to health. As early as the Shang Dynasty, there were records of "sick feet" in oracle bone inscriptions. At the end of the Shang Dynasty, King Wen of Zhou suffered from toenail disease and was cured by "Ye Gong" with a square flat shovel. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, full-time "pedicure people" and "pedicure places" appeared. People regard pedicure as "a great pleasure in life". Yangzhou is a leisure city with a very prosperous pedicure industry, which has been passed down from generation to generation. It is known as the "hometown of Chinese pedicure knives". The "Yangzhou Three Knives" are well-known throughout the country, and the "Yangzhou Pedicure Knife" is one of them, referring to the Yangzhou Pedicure. There are three ways to hold a knife in Yangzhou Pedicure: "pinching the knife", "forcing the knife" and "stuck the knife"; there are eight ways to hold the foot: "support, pinch, dig, hold, gather, grasp, struggle and push". It is most famous for its knife skills, including "Tong Bo An Xi Bo Ba", "splitting", "rectifying", "digging" and "raising". Every knife has its own skills, forming a routine. Its process is like flowing clouds and water, step by step, different for different people, suitable for different diseases, round and light, commonly known as "carving on meat". Skillfully use finger strength and wrist strength, pay attention to light hands, the sword is round and clean, not old or tender, the knife path is clear, hard and soft, "stable, accurate, light and fast". Yangzhou Pedicure belongs to "external treatment of traditional Chinese medicine", which can treat diseases, and be used for health care or leisure when there is no disease. In the middle of the Republic of China, there were six major schools of pedicure in Yangzhou, which indicated that Yangzhou pedicure had formed a unique and complete skill system.
