Mid-Autumn Festival Moon Worship in Yangzhou
"Mid-Autumn Moon Worship" refers to the general term for various sacrificial and cultural activities held by people during the Mid-Autumn Festival. It appeared in the Zhou Dynasty, first flourished in the palace, and was later imitated by nobles and literati, and then became popular among the people and became a custom. The collective moon worship ceremony includes: "three incense offerings", "three toasts", reciting prayers, burning prayers and moon palace paper, collective moon worship, worshiping the moon in turn (from offering), ceremony completion, and cutting moon cakes. Families worship the moon, set up incense tables, place offerings, face the bright moon, burn red candles, worship the moon, and cut moon cakes, symbolizing reunion and auspiciousness. The scene of Mid-Autumn Moon Worship is reflected in other art forms such as folk literature, traditional crafts, traditional fine arts, and traditional music, and the relevant customs are slightly different from other regions.
