Before liberation, marriage transactions were quite serious among the Kazakhs. The marriages of their children were mostly arranged by their parents, and the betrothal gifts often amounted to hundreds of livestock. When half of the betrothal gifts were paid, the son-in-law could visit the bride's parents-in-law and stay at their parents-in-law's house that night. In Kazakh weddings, there is a custom of tripping the bride with a trip rope and pouring oil on the fire. When the groom leads the bride home, the man's relatives and friends pull up ropes on the road. If the bride wants to pass smoothly, she must give gifts to the rope swingers one by one, or ask the bridesmaids to sing, using songs instead of things. "Girl chasing" is a traditional activity for young Kazakh men and women to express their love. At the beginning of the activity, the girl and the boy ride side by side on horseback. The boy can express his love to the girl and make jokes. Whether the girl is willing or not, she cannot get angry and let the boy say whatever he wants. When it is time to turn back, the girl has the right to whip the boy with a whip, and the boy can only run away and cannot fight back. Therefore, when they reach the turning point, the young man will flee on horseback, and the girl will chase him at the back door. If the girl is interested in the young man, she will raise the whip high and gently drop it, or just pretend to shake the whip over the boy's head. If the girl is not interested in the boy, then the boy will be severely whipped. There is also a "door-to-door" ceremony in Kazakh wedding customs, which is held at the woman's house. When visiting the door, the unmarried son-in-law and the girl sit in the tent and eat a piece of sheep breast meat together, because the flesh and blood are connected, which symbolizes that the couple will love each other forever.
