The Zhuang folk songs of Liucheng County, also known as Zhuang Huan, are listed as the "Four Wonders of Liuzhou" along with the festivals of the Miao people, the dances of the Yao people, and the buildings of the Dong people. It is said that "Guangxi folk songs can be seen in Liuzhou, and Liuzhou folk songs can be heard in Zhuang Huan", and thus it has developed into a grand festival, the Liucheng Zhuang Huan Festival. On the day of the festival, the streets and alleys of Liucheng County are full of flowers, lanterns are hung high, and colorful flags are fluttering. Baiyang Square, which is the venue for the Liucheng "Zhuang Huan Competition", is dressed up in a new look. The melodious singing voices float among the mountains and rivers, and Liucheng in October has become a sea of singing. The Zhuang people call their folk songs "Huan" and singing folk songs "doing Huan". There are records of this in Liu Xiang's "Shuo Yuan" and "Yue Ren Ge" in the Han Dynasty. Huan, narrating and expressing feelings, using songs to speak, expressing feelings, and conveying emotions. The ancestors have passed it down through "oral transmission and heart-to-heart teaching" for more than a thousand years. In 2006, Liucheng folk songs were listed as an intangible cultural heritage of the autonomous region. On October 13, 2007, Liucheng County held the "First Zhuang Huan Competition in Liucheng County" in Taiping Town. Since then, the Zhuang Huan Competition has been held every October or November. The Zhuang Huan in Liucheng is especially good in Taiping, with beautiful rhymes, distinctive characteristics, and the most Zhuang characteristics. Traditional Zhuang Huan is mostly sung by Zhuang people after work to adjust their lives and relax. Countryside houses and fields are the stage for Zhuang Huan. The content is mostly about singing the story of a legendary figure. These "Huan" with storylines, such as "Qin Xianglian", "The Story of Dong Yong", "He Wenxiu", "Liu Sanjie", etc. In addition, the songs that reflect life scenes are also composed and sung with storylines. Old Zhuang people can sing for three days and three nights without stopping: The rain is misty on the beginning of spring in the first month of the year, and the widow's tears wet her clothes. The hen flew away from the nest, and the rooster took the chicks to crawl. Now the Zhuang Huan has gradually been moved to an artistic stage, and the background has been arranged as a scene of life and labor; the content is mostly composed of new lyrics and new songs according to the characteristics of the times, and the storyline is reduced. Songs like "Orange Grove Joyful Songs", "Welcome to the Door", and "Where Can Such Sweet Songs Come From" have both a strong local cultural flavor and a contemporary color. Sugarcane is getting sweeter and the village has a new look. The new building is ready, waiting for girls. The stage of the "Zhuang Huan Contest" in Baiyang Square is very lively. Unlike the sitting-singing Zhuang Huan in the past, the current Zhuang Huan is a scene display combined with people's production and life, that is, the Zhuang Huan situational drama performance: the boy attracts the girls' attention with passionate folk songs, and the girls test the boy with folk songs. After a Zhuang Huan singing contest, in the moving singing, they enhance their understanding of each other and find their true love. Corresponding to the stage performance, the people off the stage also have their own activities. A piece of open space, a few big trees, a few stone benches, and a few steps become the best stage. The singers interact with the masses lively, and laughter comes from time to time. Young people mostly gather among the mountains and rivers, under the peach and plum blossoms, under the shade of trees, on the grass, beside the hillside or by the river. As long as it is a beautiful and quiet place, there are singers. Girls and boys are dressed in their best clothes, complementing the mountains and rivers. Zhuanghuan is both a rhymed poem and a song with a combination of verses. The rhymes of waist and feet are rare in folk song rules at home and abroad. It is mainly composed of five-character four-line, and the tune varies from place to place: in Nanning Shanglin area, the rhythm is brisk, the span is wide, and the jump is large; while Liucheng Zhuanghuan has less rhythm changes, soothing and soft, and is better at expressing sorrowful feelings. Even if there is no thatch on the ridge, even if there is no mugwort on the mountain. Even if there are no pedestrians on the road, we will never leave each other. The most exciting part of the Zhuanghuan Festival is the semi-finals of the "King of Songs" competition. The teams entering the semi-finals are not concentrated in one venue for a unified competition, but are selected by themselves. The expert judges went to various towns, fields, farmhouses, and orchards to experience the scene in person. During the festival, vendors gathered next to the song fair, and the Zhuang people opened their doors to welcome guests with delicious local dishes, and the joy of the festival was everywhere. The natural stage, rich programs, and lively performances showed the unique cultural charm of "Liucheng Zhuang Huan" with endless charm.
