The New Grain Festival is a folk festival of the Zhuang people in Daxin County, Guangxi. On the first day after the harvest in the tenth month of the lunar calendar every year, people pound the newly harvested glutinous rice into glutinous rice cakes, and at the same time kill chickens and ducks to offer sacrifices to the ancestors to celebrate the harvest. People eat Bashuo cakes and red bean rice on the New Grain Festival, rice balls, chestnuts, and green beans on the Mid-Autumn Festival, reed cakes, rice balls, and mixed rice on the Autumnal Equinox, and Haizi cakes and red bean rice on the Autumn Harvest Festival.
