Zhongshan lion dance originated from the Nanquan routine, commonly known as the "duck-billed lion". In ancient times, it was as famous as the Nanhai lion and the Heshan lion, and was distributed throughout the city. There is a habit of "playing lions" during every festival. Since 1984, lion dance competitions have been held every year, and the routine of "Southern Lion and Northern Dance" has been innovated.
