Conghua Qilin Dance
The Qilin Dance originated from the ancient worship of the Qilin totem. It is a unique folk art that people have cultivated in the soil of the local Qilin cultural belief, drawing on the movements and techniques of the lion dance and martial arts in the Pearl River Delta. The Qilin is shaped according to ancient legends, with a dragon head, a lion body, deer horns, a sheep head, and an ox tail. It is vivid and lifelike. There are specific artistic routines and dance skills when dancing, and the accompaniment music uses gongs and drums with undulating rhythms. Today, the Qilin Dance is still widely spread in Huangge Town, Nansha District, Conghua District and other places, and it is still an important spiritual sustenance and entertainment activity for local people.
