Yangcheng County is located between the three mountains of Taiyue, Taihang and Zhongtiao. The county is full of valleys, rivers and dense mulberry forests, which create unique favorable conditions for the papermaking industry. Yangcheng cotton paper making is a traditional local industry, and the traditional craftsmanship is still relatively intact. It is recorded that during the Yongzheng period of the Qing Dynasty, the handmade papermaking industry in the county was very prosperous. At that time, every household in Xiakong Village had a pond and made paper. The main raw material for handmade papermaking in Yangcheng is mulberry bark, and the auxiliary raw materials are lime, oil glue, etc. The main production process includes 72 processes such as selection, steaming, drying, grinding, cutting, and copying. Specifically, it includes collecting skin, selecting skin, building skin, rough skin, steaming skin, drying paper, assembling skin, shaking skin, pounding cakes, cutting skin, washing, fishing paper, putting paper down, pressing blanks, drying paper, peeling paper, and cutting paper. The main products are cotton paper, earthen paper, and yellow-mounted paper. Cotton paper and yellow-mounted paper are the best, with no bumps on the paper surface, soft and shiny; cotton paper is white and delicate, with neat edges and no holes, strong tensile strength, suitable for window paper, and strong adsorption and good ink-wetting performance. The production process of cotton paper is complicated, and the key steps are difficult to replace with modern technology.
