Wendeng is located in the eastern part of Shandong Peninsula. Due to its special geographical location, a Western drawnwork technique combined with "Irish lace" has been widely spread among the people. After the interpretation and arrangement of the traditional Lu embroidery artists in Wendeng, a "drawnwork" art was born, which uses "drawing, embroidery, weaving, locking, tightening, picking, mending, and carving" techniques to make various decorative patterns on white linen, silk or cotton and linen blended fabrics. It has beautiful shapes, elegant styles, rough and strong patterns, rich colors, and strong local characteristics. Wendeng Lu embroidery is an embroidery technique that combines Chinese and Western embroidery. It has won gold medals at the China Light Industry Expo and the World Expo many times. It can be called a fine product of Chinese arts and crafts and is known as "a rare flower in the art garden and a unique embroidery product." Wendeng also enjoys the reputation of "the hometown of Lu embroidery."
