Lahunqiang originated from the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China. There were two brothers and sisters. The brother carried a small drum and the sister held a local pipa. They went from village to village performing to make a living. They ended up in Xiaowangji, which is located at the junction of the former Woyang County and Mengcheng County, and is now in Lixin County. Because the male singing section ends with a "咿" character, and the female singing section always ends with a "hum", the singing is pleasant and melodious, the meaning of the words is close to the people's life, the performance is delicate and rich, and it is fascinating, which is very pleasing to the small business owners of Xiaowangji. They not only leave the brothers and sisters in Xiaowangji to teach skills and sing, but also set up a drama troupe. According to the characters and joy, anger, sorrow, happiness and drama in the life drama, they create the slow, fast, non-board, Duozi board, middle two-line board, Luo Yanzi, tight beat and slow singing, big crying board, small crying board, and continuous board. They also add the necessary percussion instruments for drama and the main accompaniment instrument of pipa, commonly known as the first string, and add bamboo flute, sheng, muffled, suona, erhu and banhu, changing from a two-person singing to a dozen people performing a play. Because of its sad singing, people will feel sad and even cry when they hear it. The joy and fun bring endless fun to people. The tongue-twisting and coloratura are unique in style, especially the strong local charm and the frequent use of exclamations such as "Alas" and "Yo" in the performance, which makes people feel relaxed and happy, so it is called "Lahunqiang". Lahunqiang was popular in Woyang County, Mengcheng County, and both sides of the Xihe River in the Republic of China. In 1950, it represented local operas in Beijing to report performances for central leaders and won awards. As a result, Woyang County not only established a "Huaibei Bangzi" troupe and a "Lahunqiang" troupe, but also hired Mr. Guo Zigui, who was born in Guolou Village, Panlou Town, Lixin County, as the business director and director. In the 1960s, only one professional troupe was retained in a county, and the "Lahunqiang" troupe was disbanded. No one expected that this "Lahunqiang" troupe would be fully accepted and settled by Jiangji District, Lixin County, and named "Jiangji District Lahunqiang Drama Troupe". Xiaowangji, which is under the jurisdiction of Jiangji District, is the birthplace of "Lahunqiang". At that time, the descendants of "Lahunqiang" cultivated by the brother and sister were scattered in the neighboring small towns such as Zhengxiaoji, Jiuchengji, Liujiaji, Zhouji, Jiangtuanji, Wangtuanji, and Zhangji, and Lahunqiang opera troupes were established one after another. For a time, Lahunqiang not only spread rapidly in Lixin Jiangji District and surrounding areas, but also directly affected the neighboring districts of Woyang County and Mengcheng County to establish Lahunqiang opera troupes. During the "Cultural Revolution", the traditional opera costumes of these troupes were burned, and they were changed to perform modern life dramas and model dramas to form "Mao Zedong Thought Propaganda Teams" active in rural areas. They participated in the county's performances every year and became a main force. From the late 1970s to the mid-1980s, traditional operas were restored. Seven of the ten districts in Lixin County had their own Lahunqiang troupes, and four districts built small theaters. In the late 1980s, modern propaganda equipment such as recording, video and television entered thousands of rural households, pop music began to be popular, feudal superstition gradually rose and "Catholicism" was also spreading rapidly. Local culture entered a trough, many small theaters in towns and villages were demolished, and the Lahunqiang troupe was disbanded. The endangered status of Lahunqiang gradually deepened. In 2005, the county cultural center established a folk artist rap group, aiming to explore and rescue the intangible cultural heritage of Lixin County, "Lahunqiang", "Qingyin Opera", "Drum" and "Qinshu", but due to insufficient funds, it was difficult to recruit young people to inherit. In 2008, the Intangible Cultural Art Rap Group was established again. The county government included the excavation and rescue of "intangible cultural heritage" protection work into the county fiscal budget, with an annual budget of 50,000 yuan. The Cultural Center held the first "Lahunqiang" competition in Lixin County to select inheritors. The second "Lahunqiang" competition was held during the Spring Festival in 2009, and a group of representative inheritors were selected again. These people were organized to rehearse and the "send drama to the countryside" activity was carried out. A total of 172 performances were performed, which were not only welcomed by the masses and achieved good results, but also awarded the "Top 100 Troupes" by the Provincial Department of Culture. On the 15th day of the first lunar month in 2010, the third "Lahunqiang" competition in Lixin County was held to select representative inheritors, and actors and creative personnel were organized and equipped with musical instruments, which officially kicked off the creation of conditions for the inheritance and development of "Lahunqiang" dramas to the countryside and publicity and education of Lahunqiang dramas. "Lahunqiang" is a local opera with unique charm in our county. It has a strong local flavor, is close to life and the masses, and is the voice of the people. How to make it have successors and pass it down from generation to generation is the unshirkable obligation of everyone in our society.
