During the "Anshi Rebellion" (755-763 AD) in the Tang Dynasty, many Central Plains nobles fled to Huizhou Yan Temple to avoid war and lived in harmony with the locals. They also commemorated the patriotic generals Zhang Xun and Xu Yuan who were loyal to the Tang Dynasty and "eliminated the bandits and pacified the people". They built the "Shuanglie" Temple and visited the "Great King and Two Kings Bodhisattva". The ninth day of the first lunar month of each year was set as the memorial day. From the Song, Ming, Qing Dynasties to the Republic of China and the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the "Shangjiu" temple fair has gradually evolved into a regional material exchange for a long time. In history, the "Shangjiu" temple fair was mainly based on pavilion worship, but now it is mainly based on material exchange and performing arts activities. During the "Shangjiu" period (from the eighth to the tenth day of the first lunar month), the local government established the "Shangjiu" command center to coordinate the social management work in the process of material exchange, and the masses participated consciously. The daily flow of merchants and performers and jugglers from all over the country who came to trade was about 200,000, which adapted to the requirements of the era of opening up to the outside world and harmonious development, accelerated the organic combination of culture and tourism, and promoted the local government's excavation and utilization of historical culture. The "Shangjiu" temple fair has been passed down to this day, and this folk activity will be further enriched with the development of society.
