Jingdong Dagu is a form of folk art drum book and drum music that uses Jingdong local sound rap performance. The performance form is one person standing and singing while others play sanxian, yangqin and other instruments for accompaniment. It was formed around the middle of the Qing Dynasty and has different names in different periods and places, such as Jingdong Qie Dagu, Leting Tune, Pinggu Tune Dagu, Pinggu Tune, Leting Tune Dagu, Siping Tune Dagu, Leting Dagu (same name but different in reality as Leting Dagu formed and popular in Leting County, Hebei), Tiepian Dagu, Tieban Dagu, Chengde Local Dagu, etc. Jingdong Dagu originated from Sanhe and Xianghe in Jingdong Hebei and Baodi in Tianjin, and was popular in Langfang, Chengde, Baoding, Tangshan, Huairou in Beijing and Baodi in Tianjin. When it flowed into Tianjin in the early 20th century, it was performed in small folk art performance venues, mainly rapping long books. In the early 1930s, Liu Wenbin, a native of Baodi, Tianjin, performed "Liu Gong'an" on Tianjin Commercial Radio, which was very popular among the masses. The influence of Jingdong Drum gradually expanded and gradually spread to Beijing, Tangshan and other places. Before 1949, there were many famous artists of Jingdong Drum, including Deng Diankui, Yu Qi, Wang Xianzhang, Liu Junhai, Fu Shiting, Zhang Shicheng, Shi Jinrong, Wang Peichen, Wei Xigeng, Liu Wenbin, Qi Wenzhou, etc. The traditional repertoire and bibliography are very rich, including short drum songs "Wang Po Scolds Chicken", "Mouse Accuses Cat", "Yang Bajie Outing Spring", "Xiangzi's Birthday", "Whips Reed Flowers", "Xiaoguxian", medium-length drum books "The Story of Bandits", "The Birth of Bao Gong", "Wang Dingbao Borrows Pawn", "Ge Hongxia Sweeps the North", "Liu Gong'an", long drum books "Big Eight Righteousness", "Small Eight Righteousness", "Yang Family Generals", "Hu Family Generals", "Shuangheji", "Anti-Tang" and so on. In 1933, when Xianghe artist Yu Jingyuan performed "The Legend of Shi Lan" at Tianjin Renchang Radio Station, he called it "Jingdong Drum", and the name "Jingdong Drum" became popular. After 1949, the performance of Jingdong Drum was most famous by Dong Xiangkun, an amateur actor from Baodi, Tianjin. On the basis of retaining the traditional singing style, he changed the original performance using local dialects of Jingdong to rap in Mandarin, and further processed and standardized the singing style, constantly creating new repertoires that adapted to the development of the times, which was deeply loved by the audience. With the unremitting efforts of Dong Xiangkun and others, the development of Jingdong Drum reached its peak in the 1960s and 1970s, and the influence of its music also spread throughout the north. Since the beginning of the 21st century, due to the decrease in successors and the small number of performances, the development of Jingdong Drum has encountered an unprecedented crisis and is in urgent need of support and protection.
