Jade dragon fossil carving is a project on the Mianyang Municipal Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection List. Kuang Congyou is the fifth-generation representative inheritor of jade dragon fossil carving. He is a national first-level folk craft master and a folk craft master of Sichuan Province. Jade dragon fossil carving originated from the jade dragon flower stone in Fengjiazui, An County, Sichuan in 1820, which has a history of more than 200 years. In the Kuang family of Fengjiazui, An County, there is a man named Kuang Zhongyu. He has loved stones since he was a child. He often picked up some rare flower stones such as copper coin flower stones, fish stone, tiger stone, etc. from the high mountains and valleys in An County, Wenchuan, Chaping, Beichuan and other places. These stones have gorgeous patterns and are like jade when touched. Kuang Zhongyu has been fascinated since then, and he became a disciple to learn stone carving skills, carving dragons and phoenixes, and used them as feng shui ridges for building houses, chiseling stone mills, stone mills and other farm production and living supplies. He has a great influence in the local area and is known as "Kuang Yulong". The flower stones are also called "Jade Dragon Flower Stones". After being passed down and developed by the Kuang family from generation to generation, the fifth generation descendant Kuang Congyou has made great progress and improvement in the jade dragon fossils. In 1979, the fifth generation descendant Kuang Congyou sent the jade dragon flower stones handed down from ancestors and collected by the Chengdu Geological Department for identification, and the conclusion was that they were 500 million-year-old fossils of sea lily stems of echinoderms, coral fossils of coelenterates, and sponge fossils. The jade dragon flower stone was renamed "jade dragon fossils". Jade dragon fossils are extremely rare in my country, mainly distributed in Anxian, Beichuan, Pingwu, Jiangyou and Guangyuan in Mianyang. This area is located in the Longmen Mountains at the junction of the northwest Sichuan plateau. The terrain slopes from northwest to southeast. Most of the mountains are controlled by the fault fold structure of the Longmen Mountains, and the river cutting is strong. Hundreds of millions of years ago, this was a vast ocean. Due to sufficient sunshine and suitable sea water temperature, it became a habitat for ancient organisms and animals. Due to crustal movement and changes in land and sea, these ancient organisms and animals were buried, and very few became rare fossils of ancient organisms today. From Jiangyou to Guangyuan to the west, there are high mountains and deep valleys. From Jiangyou to Guangyuan to the east, there are hills formed by the red strata of the Sichuan Basin. The middle and upper reaches of the Jialing River and the Xinjiang River are covered with overlapping mountains, deep valleys, and distinct four seasons. Western mineral resources and water resources. The ecological resources are extremely rich. Beichuan and Anxian have unique and rare paleontological colored fossils in the world, which can be said to be a decisive natural ecological advantage. The jade dragon fossil carving has been inherited and developed by generations of the Kuang family. It has a great influence in the northwest of Sichuan and is deeply loved by the people. With the expansion of foreign cultural exchanges, the jade dragon fossil carving has been exhibited in large and medium-sized cities in China and Finland, Singapore and other places. It is deeply loved and collected by the Finnish National Forest Museum and the President of the United Nations Boxing Federation, Giotto. It has successively won the gold medal of the Fifth China Arts and Crafts Expo, the gold medal of the China Western International Arts and Crafts and Gifts Expo, the Sichuan Folk Crafts Hundreds, and the Sichuan Folk Crafts "Top Ten" title. Kuang Congyou was evaluated as a national first-class folk craftsman. After five generations of inheritance and development, the carving of jade dragon fossils has formed a unique material selection standard and fossil Yang-raising technique, hand-carving skills, and has integrated the unique sutras, opening, and storage techniques of the Kuang family, as well as a unique fire-roasting, dry-steaming, and waxing method. A whole set of skills and techniques have been formed, which have reached the spiritual energy of the stone source, the art is exquisite and ingenious, and has gone out of Sichuan and into the world. The materials used for jade dragon fossil carving are all fossils of billions of years. The materials are rare and have great scientific value, ornamental value and collection value. 1. The carving of jade dragon fossils has been passed down from father to son for five generations, forming a unique folk art of the Kuang family to carve jade dragon fossils with manual techniques. 2. The raw materials used for jade dragon fossil carving are all fossils of billions of years old. The carving is difficult, the process is complicated, and the carving tools are unique. 3. The carving of jade dragon fossils is particular about storage, and there is a set of procedures and rituals passed down by the Kuang family. The Yulong Fossil Carving uses natural paleontological fossils from Beichuan, Anxian and other places to create and design typical representative works such as "Four Treasures of the Study", "Dragon and Phoenix Flower Incense", "Twelve Zodiac Signs", "Tea Can", "Rolling Wealth", "Dominating the World", and "Elephant Trunk Revolving Lantern". It has won gold medals in national, provincial and municipal competitions for many times. "Dragon and Phoenix Flower Incense" is collected by the President of the International Boxing Federation, Joe Duli, and the Finnish National Forest Museum.
