Lion dance is very popular in Peng'an, both in urban and rural areas. As early as around 1782 AD, lion dance was popular in Peng'an. For example, the Leijiaba Lion Dance Troupe in Xujia District, Peng'an, is a lion team passed down from father to son and from son to grandson. In 1927, it was the seventh generation of lion dance troupe passed down to Lei Chunwan's generation. Because of the Cultural Revolution, lion dance was regarded as a feudal thing and was abolished. After the overthrow of the "-", lion dance became popular in urban and rural areas of Peng'an. In addition to performing on the streets with fire dragons, colorful dragons, car lights, lotus nights, etc. during the Spring Festival, lion dance is also performed on weddings and funerals, and house repairs and construction. People are happy to play lions to celebrate. Lei Chunwan, the seventh-generation successor of the Leijiaba Lion Dance Troupe, is now summarizing the dance skills and passing them on to young people in the village. Today's lion dance in Peng'an is the main movements and plots performed by Zhao Yuezhong and others under the personal guidance of artist Lei Chunwan. Its main dance features are: the lion performs various difficult standing, flipping and rolling movements on the high platform; the laughing monk not only cooperates with the lion and monkey in the performance, but also performs various lively and funny life movements. Therefore, the Peng'an lion dance, in addition to having one more performer than other regions, is also different from other regions in performance style. The lion dancers require high skills, from the ground to the platform, from the platform to the high platform (12 tables are lifted up), and from the high platform to the platform. There are many plots during the performance, such as: taking red envelopes, fortune telling, etc.
