Shizhu Tujia Autonomous County, Chongqing is located at the intersection of Wuling Mountains and the Yangtze River. The Tujia Luoer Tuo, which was bred and sung here, has a long history. The melody of Shizhu Tujia Luoer Tuo is simple, and the range of each song is within octave. There are few decorations in the cavity, and the ups and downs of the melody are smooth, easy to master and easy to sing. Its modes are mostly Zheng, Yu, and Shang modes. There are both traditional repertoires and improvised tunes performed on the spot. The lyrics are mostly seven-character sentences, which can be improvised and performed on the spot to express the singer's true feelings. Some songs have the same tune but different lyrics, which are quite similar to the legacy of "Zhuzhi Ci"; some lyrics are straightforward and popular, realistically reflecting the life, labor, folk customs, folk customs, emotions and religious beliefs of the local Tujia people, and more comprehensively recording the ritual activities, living conditions and national cultural evolution of the Tujia people. Luoerdiao has a simple and rich melody. In particular, Luoerdiao uses a large number of habitual dialect words such as "Luoer", "Luoerluo", and "Luo", which closely combines the tune with the four tones of the local Tujia dialect, and frankly expresses the optimistic, open-minded, wise, and humorous character of the Tujia people, thus forming a unique style and charm. The well-known "The Sun Comes Out and I'm Happy" is one of the representative works of Shizhu Tujia Luoerdiao folk songs. In addition, there are "Long-term Song", "Pregnancy Song", "Little Lover" and other songs. In the 1950s and 1960s, there were still more than 300 people in Shizhu Tujia Autonomous County who could sing "Luoerdiao". With the changes in social culture, the number of singers has decreased. According to preliminary investigations, only about 70 people can sing it now. These singers are old, and the inheritance of Luoerdiao is facing difficulties and is on the verge of extinction.
