The "Wubao Water Boat" in northern Shaanxi originated in the Ming Dynasty and has been passed down to this day. It integrates yangko, drama, sketches, quick-paced songs, jingles, suona music, and percussion music. It is an indispensable form of folk art expression in the Spring Festival literary and artistic activities in Wubao County, and it is popular among the masses. It exists as an independent program. The performance time of the whole program is generally about 2 hours, the performance time is fixed in the evening, and the performance location is set in the square. The fixed characters of the "Wubao Water Boat" in northern Shaanxi are the old boat (12 people), the small boat (1--2 people), the boat girl (1--2 people), and the non-fixed characters generally include the wife, Zhang Gong carrying Zhang Po, etc. The guides used include colorful boats (1--2) and paddles (1---2). The instruments used include big drums, big hairpins (at least one pair), gongs (at least one side), small hairpins, and suonas (2). The behind-the-scenes work of the whole program is relatively difficult, including screenwriters, directors, guide production, and square lighting settings. The origin of the "Wubao Water Boat" in northern Shaanxi is closely related to the formation of Wubao Yangko. In the Ming Dynasty, the military garrison system was implemented. Most of the households stationed in Yulin, one of the nine borders, were from the Jianghuai area. They spread the folk art of their hometown to Wubao and Jia, Mi, and Sui counties, thus forming the twin art of Huainan Huagu Lantern - Shaanxi Yangko. Since Wubao is located on the bank of the Yellow River, the masses first designed a craft that looked like a small boat, which was taken by a special person to join the Yangko team. Later, local artists refined the water boat into a separate program, but the content was very monotonous. It was not until 1942 that Wubao County gave birth to the first water boat drama with complete content and novel form, "Supporting the Army and Loving the People", which was performed during the Spring Festival in 1943. The content and performance form of the "Wubao Water Boat" in northern Shaanxi are close to the masses and close to life. It conforms to local folk customs and has a high value of folk art. It can also play a media-oriented role in guiding the masses to be positive and upward. It is an ancient folk art that has been spread in Wubao County for hundreds of years. The expression of this art is unique and the language used is purely Wubao dialect. Therefore, it is only spread in Wubao County.
