Located in the Senegal River delta, the Jouji reserve is a 16,000-hectare wetland consisting of a large lake surrounded by streams, ponds and backwaters. It is home to an estimated 1.5 million vulnerable bird species, such as white pelicans, purple herons, African spoonbills, great egrets and cormorants.
