There are seven megalithic temples on the islands of Malta and Gozo, each the result of an independent development. The two Ggantija temples on Gozo are famous for their monumental Bronze Age architecture. On the island of Malta, the Hagar Qim, Mnajdra and Tarxien temples are unique architectural masterpieces, considering the limited resources available to their builders.
