Sítio Roberto Burle Marx
Located in the west of Rio de Janeiro, the gardens are the result of a successful project that took more than 40 years to create by landscape architect and artist Roberto Burle Marx (1909-1994), who used local plants and drew on modernist ideas to create a "living work of art" and a "landscape laboratory". The gardens, which were created in 1949, have the main characteristics that define Burle Marx's landscape gardens and have influenced the development of modern gardens internationally. The gardens are characterized by sinuous forms, lush mass plantings, architectural plant arrangements, strong color contrasts, the use of tropical plants, and the integration of traditional folk culture elements. By the late 1960s, the gardens had the most representative collection of Brazilian plants, as well as other rare tropical species. In the site, 3,500 tropical and subtropical plants grow in harmony with the region's native vegetation, especially mangroves, restingas (a unique coastal tropical and subtropical moist broadleaf forest), and Atlantic forests. Sítio Roberto Burle Marx demonstrates the process of the concept of ecological forms, including social cooperation, which is the basis for environmental and cultural protection. It is the first modern tropical garden to be inscribed on the World Heritage List.
Tianjin Tropical Botanical Garden
Tianjin Tropical Botanical Garden is located at Bridge No. 7 of Tianjin Outer Ring Road, next to Caozhuang Flower Market, the largest flower distribution center in North China. With a total investment of 260 million yuan, it covers an area of 500 mu and a construction area of 40,000 square meters. It is a large, fully transparent steel structure building that integrates viewing, entertainment, leisure shopping, and popular science education. It is the largest indoor botanical garden in Asia and can be compared with the famous "Garden of Eden" in the UK. Its completion and opening has added a special tourist attraction to Tianjin. Tianjin Tropical Botanical Garden is the first in the domestic industry to use advanced environmentally friendly and energy-saving gas radiation heating systems, intelligent ventilation, sunshade, cooling technology and other equipment, and use modern greenhouses in the northern region to create tropical landscapes and develop plant sightseeing tourism units. The main focus is on plant landscaping, and according to the suitable living conditions required by plants, a landscape environment that adapts to the native environment of plants is created. The Tianjin Tropical Botanical Garden project was listed by the Tianjin Municipal People's Government as one of the 20 practical things to improve the lives of urban and rural people in 2003; it was recognized as a Tianjin Youth Science Education Base by the Tianjin Municipal Education Commission, the Municipal Science and Technology Commission, and the Municipal Science and Technology Association; it was rated as a national AAAA-level scenic spot by the National Tourism Administration in June 2004; and it was rated as a national youth science education base in 2005. More than 2,000 species and more than 300,000 plants of tropical and subtropical plants are planted in the Tianjin Tropical Botanical Garden. The dense and towering trees in the tropical rainforest and the spectacular rainforest phenomena such as single trees forming forests and strangling are moved to the botanical garden in a wonderful way, so that citizens living in the north can enjoy the scenery of the south at their doorstep. The botanical garden is not restricted by seasons and weather. It has a constant temperature throughout the year, with a temperature above 20℃ and a humidity above 70%. The garden is always full of spring colors, birds singing and flowers blooming throughout the year, and the scenery of the south is refreshing. Visitors strolling in the garden can't help but sigh, "If I had known there was such a garden earlier, why would I have gone to the south of the Yangtze River?" Some foreign friends even suggested that they must visit the Tropical Botanical Garden to enjoy the scenery of the northern land and the southern country when they come to Tianjin. Tianjin Tropical Botanical Garden is divided into four functional areas, namely: Service Hall, Flower Hall, Science and Education Hall, and Rainforest Hall. In the center of the entrance to the Flower Hall, the scene of the great leader Chairman Mao Zedong personally coming here to inspect agricultural production on September 19, 1959 and having a cordial conversation with farmers in the fields is vividly reproduced. Behind the statue, the colorful musical fountain sprinkles thousands of rays of light. Thousands of seasonal flowers of all seasons are colorful and gorgeous; Canary date palms imported from Australia stand among the flowers; stalactites, Lingbi, Taihu Xuanyin, and elegant stone scenery complement each other. The beautiful tropical landscape of the Tropical Botanical Garden not only attracts tourists from all directions, but also attracts the attention of many newlyweds. Nowadays, nearly a hundred couples go to the garden to take wedding photos every day, and regard the beautiful scenery of the botanical garden as a lifetime treasure. The Tropical Botanical Garden has now become the first choice for green ecological activities such as wedding ceremonies, friends gatherings, and family outings. The completion and opening of the Zhongbei Canal Ice Sculpture Park in 2009 formed a strong contrast between cold and heat with the Tropical Botanical Garden, allowing tourists to experience the ultimate excitement of "traveling all over the north and south in one day, and experiencing cold and warm in one trip". In 2010, the Zhongbei Town Government once again spent a huge amount of money to build a 4D cinema in the park. From then on, the Botanical Garden has moved from a sightseeing and tourist attraction to a comprehensive amusement attraction integrating sightseeing and entertainment.
Changli Jinyuan (Beijing) Tropical Botanical Garden
Yalu Ancient Tropical Botanical Garden is the largest and most diverse "Southern Fruits and Northern Plants" planting base in Beijing, and is a key project of Beijing. The park was established in October 2006, covering a total area of about 300 mu, with a greenhouse area of about 64,300 square meters and 50 greenhouses. The park is 200 meters north of Zhuzhuang North Road, adjacent to National Highway 104, and is a natural oxygen bar for short-distance tourism and transit leisure. Since 2006, more than 40 tropical and subtropical fruit varieties such as sugar apple, guava, bayberry, carambola, dragon fruit, wax apple, yellow peel, loquat, papaya, mango, longan, banana, miracle fruit, cassia, breadfruit, avocado, macadamia, etc. have been successfully introduced into the park, filling the gap of Beijing's "Southern Fruits and Northern Plants" variety. At the same time, a large number of organic vegetables such as beetroot, celery, parsley, peppers, broccoli, South Korean baby cabbage, Guangdong carrots, celery heart, etc., more than 40 varieties, and continue to innovate and develop new varieties. The park is a tropical science and technology demonstration scenic spot that integrates tourism, leisure and entertainment, agricultural picking, accommodation and catering, and science and technology demonstration. In the park, you will appreciate rare tropical and subtropical famous fruits, rare flowers and trees, and recognize the wonders of natural plants, so that you can appreciate the southern style in the north, and at the same time feel the fun of picking and tasting southern tropical fruits and vegetables by yourself, and fully enjoy the agricultural results of tropical science and technology planting. It also provides an ideal base for science and technology education in primary, secondary and high schools. The main attractions in the scenic area include the Tropical Plant Sightseeing Hall, Tusibao National Exhibition Hall and Tusi Bar, which covers an area of 20,000 square meters. The forests in the scenic area are lush, vines are entangled, and exotic flowers and plants compete for beauty. Streams, fountains, plants, and animals form a magnificent tropical rainforest. The first phase of the project has now been officially opened to the public.
