The cheapness and hard work of Yiwu wooden boat craftsmen mean the lack of inheritors. Although wooden boats are the inheritance of national culture, young people nowadays are becoming more and more impetuous, and the craftsmanship of Yiwu boats is not recognized. Therefore, its inheritance is likely to disappear with the development of the times. With the development of industry, the increasing number of plastic products, gradually, wooden boats on the water began to be replaced by plastic boats. Because plastic boats are light, easy to mass produce, and the production time is greatly shortened, although the quality is not satisfactory, it is easy to break and age, but the price is very cheap. Yiwu boats are facing huge challenges. Not only plastic boats, but also large iron ship machinery because of its sturdiness and durability and labor-saving characteristics, cement boats are fast and convenient characteristics are curbing the development of wooden boats. The traditional Yiwu boat manufacturing process now only exists in Qianliu Village, located in the south of Jiangdong Street, Yiwu City. Yiwu is located in the central part of Zhejiang, south of Guangdong and Fujian; north of Shanghai Economic Zone; east of the Oriental Port Ningbo Port. Yiwu is located in the eastern part of the Jinqu Basin, between 119 degrees 49 minutes and 120 degrees 17 minutes east longitude, and between 29 degrees 02 minutes 13 minutes and 29 degrees 33 minutes 40 minutes north latitude. It is located in the geographical center of Zhejiang Province. Yiwu has a mid-subtropical monsoon climate, with distinct four seasons, pleasant climate, abundant sunshine, an average annual temperature of 17.2 degrees Celsius, an average annual precipitation of 1403.1 mm, and an average annual humidity of 76%. Starting from Chen Xingfu's great grandfather, several generations of grandfathers and fathers were shipbuilding craftsmen. His great grandfather once opened a shipyard in Lanxi. When Chen Xingfu was 16 years old, he followed his father Chen Zhanggen to Jinhua to learn how to make sand dredging boats. Later, he learned how to make ferries, fishing boats, cruise ships, etc. He once made the largest ferry that could carry more than 100 people. In 1990, he returned to his hometown, Qianliu Village, Jiangdong Street, Yiwu, from Jinhua, and specialized in fishing boats and cruise ships. From buying wood to sawing boards and taking materials in the processing plant, to designing, making, caulking, filling tung oil lime and tung oil, everything is done by hand. It takes all the effort to do three jobs to build a 5.1-meter, 1.06-meter wide and 0.24-meter high boat. A small boat can be sold for about 1,200 yuan. Excluding materials and other expenses, it can earn about 200 yuan a day. Yiwu boat combines the characteristics of boats in various regions. Its manufacturing skills condense the wisdom of Yiwu people from generation to generation. It is also the spirit of Yiwu ancestors who are good at discovery, diligent in thinking, good at summarizing, and brave in innovation. Yiwu is a water town in the south of the Yangtze River. The food needed for life and the journey to visit relatives cannot be separated from boats. It has witnessed the life of a generation of Yiwu people. Therefore, Yiwu boat is a traditional skill expression form and cultural space that has been passed down from generation to generation by Yiwu people and is closely related to the lives of the masses. It is not only a witness to historical development, but also a precious and valuable cultural resource. It is a product created by the Yiwu people in the long-term production and life practice, and it is also the crystallization of the wisdom and civilization of the Yiwu people.
