Bamboo horse dance is commonly called "paozhuma". It is a folk art that combines colorful tying and dancing. This tradition is common in Zhuji City's Twelve Districts, Yingdian Street, Majian and other places. The weaving of bamboo horses is quite labor-intensive. Now only a few elderly people can still weave and tie them. After winter every year, good bamboos are selected and cut and split into round and slender bamboo strips. They are respectively woven into two parts: the front of the horse head and the back of the horse tail. Then they are pasted with various colors of colored paper, colored silk or colored silk, so there are red horses, white horses, black horses, yellow horses, and snow-blue horses. The performers of bamboo horse dance are all boys and girls aged 13 or 14. They draw various facial makeup on their faces and wear corresponding ancient costumes. Then they tie the front half of the horse to the chest and the back half of the horse to the waist behind them, and dance various formations. There are more than 30 formations such as the one-corner formation, plum blossom formation, and running full combination, which are dazzling to the audience. Today, the bamboo horse team of Xianggongdian Village in Majian Town is the most famous. It is said that the traditional entertainment activity of bamboo horse racing has existed in Xianggongdian Village since the Ming Dynasty. In addition to entertaining in the village, the bamboo horse team is often invited by relatives and friends in neighboring villages to perform. They also go to nearby Yuanqiao, Yuanlu, temple fairs and other celebrations to celebrate and add to the fun. In 1995, the Municipal Bureau of Culture held a city-wide Lantern Festival Folk Art Parade to promote national culture. Relevant departments have sorted out and guided the bamboo horse dance, enriched new dance content to adapt to the performance. After it was performed in the urban area, the audience was refreshed and received unanimous praise. In 1996, it also participated in the Second Shaoxing Art Festival and won the silver medal. The folk art of bamboo horse dance has also been included in the "Collection of Chinese National Folk Dances in Shaoxing Volume". In June 2006, it was included in the first batch of Shaoxing City's intangible cultural heritage list.
