Since the reform and opening up, famous purple clay craftsmen in Shanghai, represented by Xu Sihai, have expanded the design concept and scope of Shanghai-style purple clay art, and have shown the charm of Shanghai-style culture in tea sets, stationery and furnishings. In the past thirty years, the purple clay works designed and produced by him have repeatedly won the highest awards in various competitions. The World Expo pot designed in 2010 is a symbol that the Shanghai-style purple clay art has reached a new height. The creation area of Shanghai-style purple clay art is centered in Shanghai, and now it has spread to Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces and overseas. It has irreplaceable social and artistic value, is the representative and crystallization of Shanghai-style culture, inherits and develops traditional purple clay art, and plays an important role in promoting socialist spiritual civilization.
