Zhang's kite making skills are a district-level intangible cultural heritage project. Zhang Jinlong, a kite maker in Yanshan area, has been fond of kite art for many years. In 1957, he learned the making skills of Tianjin's "Wei's Kite"; later he studied the making skills from Mr. Kong Xiangze, the heir of "Cao's Kite"; later he applied the painting concept of Chinese painting with fine brushwork and heavy colors to the outline and coloring of kite patterns to increase the color of the kite; when making kites, the simulation technology of "Wei's Kite" was used to make the kite skeleton and shape, highlighting the shape and characteristics of the theme; the essence of the "Cao's Kite" technique, the concepts and essentials of "preferring simplicity to complexity", "preferring lightness to heaviness" and "colorful but not boring" are throughout the various production processes, which improves the flying performance and spirituality of the kite. Kite making skills have a long history, a wide variety, and different regional styles. Kite exhibitions and kite flying performances have enriched the region's mass cultural and sports activities and cultivated a group of kite enthusiasts.
